Linux TLP and PowerTOP Walk-Through. I recently had a YouTube comment asking me to give them a walk-through of what TLP does and how to make it work. Today, I do this in addition to pointing out how to track TLP benefits using PowerTOP.

Show notes:
Create a PowerTOP HTML page (renders in your operating directory; Home for example. In the terminal, do sudo powertop –html

Run auto-tune with powertop (disables USB mice, so be aware).
sudo powertop –auto-tune

Enable or disable a bad/good setting in Tunables with the spacebar.

Non-destructive viewing of the tlp settings without using sudo.
nano /etc/default/tlp

What distro do you use?
On my office PC I use Ubuntu 17.10 with the stylish Pop! theme by System76.

On my Steam Machine I now run Ubuntu 16.04 with the Steam Compositor and nomodeswitch packages installed. (This is because later versions of Ubuntu have PIE enabled by default which prevents me from using Dolphin)

What do you use to edit your videos?

A US Senator has urged the ESRB and ESA to look at the potential harm loot boxes pose to vulnerable customers. The industry’s guard dogs, however, continue to do nothing even as politicians close in.

Doing nothing is not going to help the industry, not when there are politicians who are prepared to do *something*.
